Abyssus Frozen Aspect
What the Frozen Aspect does
Frozen trades some theoretical damage for tempo: slowed or frozen enemies create safer shots, reloads, and revives.
Hits apply Frost buildup toward Freeze on susceptible enemies. Check immunity before relying on control.
- Pick it when
- Pick it when fast packs or crowded rooms are ending runs before the damage build can operate.
- Think twice when
- A pure boss-race setup may prefer direct damage if control has little effect on the target.
Best Frozen Blessings
Pairs with the Plasma Launcher when safer room control matters more than maximum burst.
Enduring Freeze
Freeze lasts 30% longer on enemies.
Extends control once Freeze lands; it does not make immune bosses freezable.
Brittle Freeze
Frozen enemies take 20% more damage.
Status eligibility and immobilization are separate. Partial buildup or boss status may qualify according to the pre-1.3 reference; the current interaction is untested.
Everlasting Winter
Frozen enemies pulse damage to themselves and nearby enemies, also applying Frost buildup.
The tooltip requires Frozen status; it does not specify full immobilization. Its behavior on control-immune bosses needs current-version testing.
How to build around Frozen
- Apply control before committing to a slow shot.
- Use the freeze window to reposition, not only to attack.
- Add damage to the controlled target after uptime feels reliable.

All Frozen Blessing effects and conditions
Your primary weapon, secondary weapon, and ability each establish an Aspect slot. The third Blessing from one Aspect unlocks its Minor threshold and the sixth its Major threshold. The 17 named upgrades below are separate from the three base entries tracked by the Scribe checklist.
Values describe the linked reference tooltips, checked on . Reference tooltips; the game version and upgrade level are not printed on every image. Values are not a live-game measurement or a +1 to +10 scaling table. Upgrade Altars and Upgrade Kits can change eligible values; compare the card offered in your current run. Missing amounts and formulas remain unspecified.
The three base entries identify Primary, Secondary or Ability. For named upgrades, check the source slot at the altar; these reference cards do not establish how the same Aspect stacks across different slots. The “When to choose” column is editorial advice.
| Blessing / source | Effect and trigger | When to choose / limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Frozen — Primary Primary Source tooltip ↗ File: | Primary fire gains 15% damage and applies Frost buildup on hit. | Repeated hits can build toward Freeze on susceptible enemies. |
| Frozen — Secondary Secondary Source tooltip ↗ File: | Secondary fire gains 15% damage and applies Frost buildup on hit. | Use when secondary attacks can maintain the buildup. |
| Frozen — Ability Ability Source tooltip ↗ File: | The ability gains 15% damage and applies Frost buildup on hit. | Ability-based buildup; it does not override Freeze immunity. |
| Heavy Freeze Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Frozen enemies have a 15% chance to take Weakspot damage. | The tooltip says Frozen. The pre-1.3 status reference includes partial buildup; its current trigger threshold needs an in-game check. |
| Enduring Freeze Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Freeze lasts 30% longer on enemies. | Extends control once Freeze lands; it does not make immune bosses freezable. |
| Quick Freeze Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Apply 80% more Frost buildup. | Choose when reaching the Freeze threshold is the problem. |
| Frostbite Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Freeze damage increases by 3 percentage points. | A percentage-point increase, not a generic 3% multiplier to all damage. |
| Brittle Freeze Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Frozen enemies take 20% more damage. | Status eligibility and immobilization are separate. Partial buildup or boss status may qualify according to the pre-1.3 reference; the current interaction is untested. |
| Hypothermia Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Frozen enemies lose 1% of their current Health each second. | Scales from current, not maximum, Health. Whether partial buildup or a control-immune boss qualifies needs a current-version check. |
| Frozen Shards Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Killing an enemy that is Frozen or has Frost buildup sends out Ice Shards. The tooltip lists 2% of current Health as hit damage but does not clearly identify the Health reference. | A kill-based spread option; do not derive a damage formula from the ambiguous wording. |
| Gliding Glacier Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Frozen enemies slide and both deal and receive damage equal to 5% of their current Health when colliding with something. | Needs collisions; arena layout affects usefulness. |
| Coldsnap Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | When Freeze ends, the enemy loses 6% of its current Health. | The damage occurs on removal, not simply on adding Frost buildup. |
| Thawing Strike Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Melee attacks against Frozen enemies deal 100% more damage and remove Freeze. | Check whether the hit consumes buildup or full Freeze in the current version. Approach only when the melee window is safe. |
| Packed Snow Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Enemies become up to 20% Slower and Weaker as Freeze buildup rises. | Supports the buildup phase; control immunity still matters. |
| Chronic Cold Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Enemies retain 15% of Freeze buildup after Freeze is removed. | Helps repeated Freeze cycles on a target that survives the first one. |
| Critical Freeze Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Weakspot hits apply 100% more Freeze buildup. | Fits accurate weapons; this is a buildup bonus rather than direct damage. |
| Blightful Freeze Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Frozen enemies take 15% more damage from Status Effects. | Combine with other damaging statuses. Do not infer from control immunity alone that the damage bonus cannot apply. |
| Frosts Knowledge Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Each Frost Blessing raises damage against Elites and Bosses by 5%. | Its tooltip does not require the boss to be Frozen, unlike Brittle Freeze. |
| Erupting Freeze Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | An enemy dying while Frozen or carrying Frost buildup explodes, damaging and applying Frost buildup to nearby enemies. | A pack-clear chain that needs kills and neighboring targets; damage is not quantified. |
| Everlasting Winter Aspect upgrade Source tooltip ↗ File: | Frozen enemies pulse damage to themselves and nearby enemies, also applying Frost buildup. | The tooltip requires Frozen status; it does not specify full immobilization. Its behavior on control-immune bosses needs current-version testing. |
